Bell Bottoms

Bell Bottoms. Awesome. If you're unaware, bell-bottoms are the name given to pants that get wider from the knees downward, making a bell shape towards the bottom. Hence, the name bell-bottoms.

Bell Bottoms became hip in the 1960's United States during the Hippie counterculture movement. In the 1970's, bell bottom trousers became more mainstream, and they remained in fashion for much of the 1970's. Sonny & Cher helped make bell bottoms popular also, as they wore them on their popular TV show quite often.

Today, the original men's bell bottom pants from the 1970s decade are collectible vintage clothing items. Many people today attend retro themed parties and like to wear vintage clothing, or people in hippie bands, or just to wear out to the club. Mens bell-bottom trousers seem to be the most desired fashion items from the 1960's and 1970s.
